Small evergreen tree, in between the orange and lemon trees, up to 3 mtrs. high. The fruit is much smaller than the orange with a characteristic lemon-orange taste. The essential oil is obtained by cold expression after peeling the fruit. Major oil producer countries are Spain and Italy and in smaller quantities in Greece, Algeria and Cyprus and the Middle East. Mandarin Peel oil is an orange brown to dark yellowish brown or olive brown, occasionally lemon yellow, mobile liquid of intensely sweet, not very fresh odor, Occasionally with an amine like, fishy topnote and usually with a rich neroli like, floral backnote.
